"Accessorizing" the 4th Trimester
No matter your level of interest in fashion – especially post-baby – we all love a good accessory: those little additions that show our style, our personality, our individuality.
One of the great things about the evolution of your style in the 4th Trimester is that you suddenly have a whole new range of accessories at your fingertips (often in unexpected places). Yes, you may have more to schlep around (including a little post baby weight – but who cares), but between this spring’s “athleisure” push, innovative jewelry design, and stylish baby-wearing, you can hit the streets, the mall, and even the park looking fabulous!
1. Wrap yourself in color
Carry your baby beautiful. We love Solly Baby wraps: simple and soft, and so much less functional-looking than traditional baby carriers. Think of this soft wrap like you would a scarf: an accent to your style, a pop of color. (Not to be too glib about your smashing look: Before you tie one on, be sure to read the instructions thoroughly so you are carrying your baby safely and securely.)
Your baby gets curious fast, and nothing catches her eye like your jewelry. Particularly when you wear your baby, it seems like you run a lot of defense between your delicate danglers and your baby’s grasping hands! But before you give up on statement pieces completely, consider scooping up some Chewbeads. Invented by a mom (of course), these safe, non-toxic teethers do double-time as the coolest jewelry that keeps everyone happy. Brightly-colored and made for teething/sucking, they add a little “wow” to your ensemble and keep your baby engaged when you sneak a quick lunch.
3. Play footsie
One for baby too! Have you heard the hype about Freshly Picked baby moccasins? In addition to being dreamed up by a hardworking mama with an incredible backstory, they live up to their reputation with a crazy array of colors and prints, all in FP’s signature moc style. Everyone on set was lusting after these neon cuties during our shoot. And watch this space: in May we’ll be doing a Freshly Picked giveaway, just in time for Mother’s Day!
4. Roam beautifully
Whether heading to the park for a picnic or just getting together for a mini-me playdate, Skip Hop’s Central Park blanket-and-cooler bag is the thing to carry. Lightweight and slim, this piece can be used in five different ways, including as a water-resistant picnic blanket. If you’re traveling light, simply detach the cooler bag for a compact messenger.
