postmodyrn is an electronic magazine dedicated to the 4th Trimester experience.

What is the 4th Trimester?  It is that magical, murky 0-6 months after you have a baby -- your first six months postpartum.  In other words, if you have found us here, chances are you are in the very first weeks or months of motherhood.  Welcome and congratulations!  Of all the moments in life that define (or re-define) you, this moment -- right now, where you are -- is arguably the most profound.

A lot (by which we mean most) of the messaging around the first few months postpartum revolves around a small number of themes: weight loss, depression, and "getting back" -- back into your skinny jeans, back to work, back in the groove.  But we at postmodyrn don't want to talk about getting back!  We believe that having a baby is the start of something new, and we would much rather focus on who you are becoming than who you were: a person who is moving forward in the world with a changed perspective, new priorities and passions and fears, and so much possibility.  We believe in embracing, or at least accepting, the reality of parenthood, in all its majesty (the love!) and mundacity (the spit-up!).

We believe that after is the new now.

At postmodyrn, you can always count on two things:

  1. We’re about the MOM.  The baby is getting plenty of love and we want to make sure that you are too.  Your life is never going to be the same.  It’s mind-blowing.  We’ve been there, and we are here for you.
  2. We aren’t interested in telling you what to do.  Plenty of people out there in internet-land are handling that just fine.  At postmodyrn we believe that families are personal and your decisions – from working to breastfeeding to co-sleeping and everything in between – are driven by necessity and proclivity, and the one thing to remember in all this madness is that they are yours.  We hope to provide resources, opinions, products, and a little bit of entertainment that will make navigating your choices a little bit easier…and a lot more fun.

It’s the 4th Trimester.  It’s exhausting and thrilling and it’s not forever (we promise).  But it’s Now.

postmodyrn.  After is the New Now.
